Thursday 2nd July 2015
The Association received an invitation to attend a meeting at the Town Hall at 9a.m. on Thursday 2nd July.  In attendance were Mrs Pat Harris, Interim Town Clerk; Samantha Brown, Allotments Officer; Ty Smith, Head Groundsman.  Also present were John Pritchard, Chairman of the Association; Pat Harding & Mike Penn, Borovere Site Reps; and Phil Small, Spitalfields Site Rep.

We discussed the routine grass and hedge cutting maintenance for all sites.  A copy of the letter to Cllr Matthew Bayliss( See correspondence page) was circulated.  It is hoped that after such a positive and productive meeting, the Association can look forward to the proposals being approved by the Open Spaces "Allotment Advisory Sub-Committee', at their meeting on July 15th 2015.

Wednesday 24th February 2016

A Referendum relating to the adoption of the Alton Neighbourhood Plan will be held on Wednesday 24th February 2016

The question which will be asked in the Referendum is:

"Do you want East Hampshire District

  Council to use the Neighbourhood

plan for Alton to help it decide

  planning applications in the

  neighbourhood area?"

The Neighbourhood Plan emphasises the need for allotments.

Policy CH7 therefore supports the provision of new allotments associated with housing development schemes. Where a development proposal includes new allotments, this will be considered as a positive feature of that scheme.

The action point for Alton Town Council which relates to this objective is:

CHAP5: We will seek to offer a co-ordinating role to local organisations in order to improve and promote the usage and financial health of the town’s range of amenities.

Please consider supporting the Neighbourhood Plan.
